On April 15, 2009 at approximately 5:10AM the gas station attendant at the Pattersonville rest area on the New York State Thruway, Montgomery County, New York, reported being robbed at gunpoint by a female subject. The female subject fled westbound on the New York State Thruway in a white Ford Explorer. She has been
identified as a yet-unnamed woman from Bryant, Texas, who is 59 years old.
New York State Troopers from Troops T and G pursued the Explorer and at mile post marker 206 the Explorer ran over a tire deflating device that had been deployed by a Trooper which caused the left side tires to deflate. The vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the highway approximately one mile west and the subject immediately killed herself inside her locked vehicle with a single gunshot. The proceeds from the robbery were recovered on the deceased.
A joint investigation is being conducted by the New York State Police Troop T, SP Syracuse and Fultonville, Troop D, SP Herkimer and Oneida, and Troop G, SP Fonda. At this time the subject’s name is not being released pending the notification of her family.
