Wierd (But True) New York State Thruway - Armed Robbery, Police Pursuit and Suicide

On April 15, 2009 at approximately 5:10AM the gas station attendant at the Pattersonville rest area on the New York State Thruway, Montgomery County, New York, reported being robbed at gunpoint by a female subject. The female subject fled westbound on the New York State Thruway in a white Ford Explorer. She has been
identified as a yet-unnamed woman from Bryant, Texas, who is 59 years old.

New York State Troopers from Troops T and G pursued the Explorer and at mile post marker 206 the Explorer ran over a tire deflating device that had been deployed by a Trooper which caused the left side tires to deflate. The vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the highway approximately one mile west and the subject immediately killed herself inside her locked vehicle with a single gunshot. The proceeds from the robbery were recovered on the deceased.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the New York State Police Troop T, SP Syracuse and Fultonville, Troop D, SP Herkimer and Oneida, and Troop G, SP Fonda. At this time the subject’s name is not being released pending the notification of her family.

Guess It Does Not Matter How Old You Are

70 year old man arrested for graffiti

WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sheriff's Deputies arrested a 70-year-old man for graffiti. Around 3 p.m. Saturday, Warren County Sheriff's Office says Dr. Kenneth C. Hopper was spray painting "row-low" on a Bike Trail overpass on State Route 9L.

Hopper told deputies he did not know what the word means but finds it "intriguing". He was arrested and charged with making graffiti and possessing graffiti Instruments.

He was released with an appearance ticket

Three picked up in car break-ins

AMSTERDAM - Two 12-year-old boys and a 29-year-old man were found to be stealing valuables from city vehicles Thursday night by the city police.

Tony Serrano, 29, of 90 Union Street apartment 2 was charged with two-counts of petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child.

Cars Being Vandalized

Amsterdam police say someone broke side view mirrors on cars and threw eggs on some others in the area of Division Street and surrounding neighborhoods. Some cars were entered, about twenty were vandalized - one motorcycle was tipped over. Police say anyone who may be able to help police find the vandals can call 842-1100.
