Amsterdam NY's only Hill & Markes

New Floor Care Technology Available
Hill & Markes Inc. offers green technology that makes water behave like a powerful detergent, without adding chemicals. Patent-pending ec-H2O™ technology offers eco-friendly advantages, lower costs, ease of use, worker safety.

Amsterdam, NY (PRWEB) July 1, 2009 -- Hill & Markes today announced the availability of Tennant's ec-H2O, a breakthrough cleaning technology that electrically activates plain tap water, making it behave like a powerful detergent without any added chemicals. ec-H2O offers significant customer advantages including lower costs, ease of use and improved operator safety plus an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional cleaning methods. ec-H2O's cleaning effectiveness is proven to be the same or better than general purpose cleaners, without the negative environmental impact and health issues associated with producing, packaging, transporting, using and disposing of traditional cleaning chemicals. ec-H2O begins as water and ends as water.

"Tennant's new ec-H2O technology is a category-changing advancement for the cleaning industry, and delivers a cleaning solution that reduces the cost-of-use, improves health and safety and is
more environmentally friendly." said Andrea Packer, Hill & Markes Vice President of Marketing.

Hill & Markes Inc., is please to have been able to partner with Price Chopper and the Golub Corporation in providing the ec-H2O technology to their stores. It will provide the proper cleaning for the new Sustainable store on Central Avenue, Albany as well as in other stores. How ec-H2O Works
The ec-H2O technology has multiple patents pending. The system works by unlocking the vast
amounts of energy stored in the water molecule H2O. This is accomplished through a special ec-H2O unit that is installed in a Tennant Company floor-cleaning machine.
Inside the unit, two primary steps transform normal tap water into a powerful cleaning solution. In
the first step, water passes through electrified screens in the oxygenation chamber, creating highly
oxygenated micro-bubbles. In the second step, the oxygenated water is sent through a water cell where an electric current is applied. Flowing out of the water cell is highly charged, acidic and alkaline water with all the attributes of a powerful cleaner. In this activated state, ec-H2O is an effective cleaning agent that poses no harm to the surfaces or finishes it cleans, or to people using the technology. The electrically charged water attacks the dirt, breaks it into smaller particles and suspends it off the floor's surface--enabling the scrubber's pads or brushes to easily remove the soil. Approximately 45 seconds after it was created, the cleaning solution returns to plain H2O. What is left in the recovery tank is just plain water and dirt. In this process, 100 percent of the water used reverts to neutral tap water and can be handled and disposed of safely.
"Our tests found that Tennant Company's new ec-H2O cleaning solution performs as well as other
general purpose cleaners," said Mark Citsay, of Aspen Research, St. Paul, Minn., a research laboratory that tested and verified the effectiveness of cleaning with ec-H2O.
Among ec-H2O's additional benefits, it uses 70 percent less water than traditional cleaning
methods. Since no detergents are added to the ec-H2O system, ec-H2O does not leave slippery detergent residue on the floor, nor does it release used detergent discharge into water systems. Further, eliminating the need for chemical additives enhances worker safety and reduces costs for purchasing and disposal of chemicals.

East Main Store Robbed Again

Amsterdam convenience store King's Fuel was robbed Sunday morning for the third time in a two-year period, and police are looking for the gunman and his getaway driver.

The store's surveillance footage shows a black male entered the store at 8:55 a.m. He wore dark pants and a white T-shirt, splayed with G-Unit across the front, under an unzipped blue hooded sweatshirt. The suspect wore the hood up, so his face is indistinguishable. He flashed a pistol at the clerk and demanded she empty the register. He reportedly made off with a small amount of cash.

Eyewitness accounts said the robber was assisted by a getaway driver, a white male with a distinguishing mark on his left cheek. Amsterdam Police Detective Lt. Tom DiMezza said it was either a birthmark, a mole, or a pockmark.

The pair reportedly sped away in a red two-door sedan, possibly a Dodge Stratus, that had dirty front wheels and a factory-installed spoiler on the trunk. Police immediately put out an alert for the suspect vehicle.

DiMezza said this robbery occurred at almost the same time last year around the same hour, but 12 hours apart. Last year's incident occurred around 9:20 p.m., he said.

The same store clerk, a female, has worked each time the store was robbed. Store Manager Iftikhar Butt said she is "very scared" and he is going to "give her some time" to decide whether or not she will continue working at the store. She quit after the last robbery, he said, but came back to work a couple of hours at a time.

Amsterdam Mayor Money Hungry?

It's all about the money In Amsterdam NY,
All the mayor worries about is the money NOT what the people want. Why would you let this building, that everyone wants torn down, to be changed over to luxury apartments? Because it's all about the money! If you let this be built all the rest of the rental apartments in amsterdam will see there rents go way up. If you think economic times are hard now in amterdam, wait until you see another mass exodus of people from amsterdam. NY already has the highest taxes on everything in the United States.

AMSTERDAM — Mayor Ann Thane believes the city would be throwing away more than $1 million by demolishing the Chalmers building that hovers above the Mohawk River shoreline on the south side of Amsterdam.

Thane announced she’s vetoed the Common Council’s May 5 resolution opposing a developer’s application to list the monolithic factory building on the state and federal historic registers.

Opposing Albany Tech LLC’s request for historic listing jeopardizes the development’s impact on tax revenue and doesn’t shed a good light on the government of a city striving to bring in some activity, she said.

“I think it makes us look foolish,” said Thane, who estimates that developer Uri Kaufman’s plans for a $24 million renovation could net $896,000 in property tax revenue annually.

“People want their taxes to come down. This is how you do it,” Thane said.

Kids have nothing better to do in Amsterdam NY

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- Two Amsterdam teens are arrested after police respond to a massive fight on the corner of Willard and Union Streets in the city. Police say when they arrived, they saw about 40 people fighting with each other.

Officers say as they were trying to break it up, Marangelys Perez, 19, began fighting with the officer. As the officer was arresting Perez, police say a second girl, Marisol Serrano, 16, jumped on the officer's back.

Both girls were pepper-sprayed during the struggle and eventually arrested.
What Should I Do When Child Protective Services Knocks on My Door
Even if you are a good parent, you might find Child Protective Services at your door someday. What should you do if this happens? Knowing what to do in advance can save you the grief that I went through when CPS took my daughter.

It's That Time Of Year Again

It's that time of year again when people get lazy walking (Must be because it's too hot) that they are turning to stealing bicycles in the city of Amsterdam. Better get the locks out. I tell my stepson all the time to put his bike away and wouldn't you know it last night he did not adhere to my warning and his bike was stolen. Luckily he got it back this time. The police found it at fastrac over on Rte. 30 A/K/A Market st. We live in the vicinity of forest ave. This is the third time in five years someone has stolen his bike. Well maybe the third time will be the charm.

City can’t afford to keep waiting for developer

The clock is ticking.
For each day that goes by and the former Chalmers
knitting mill stands at the end of Bridge Street, the cost
to raze the building gets higher.
A year ago, we implored the city’s Common Council
to vote against giving developer Uri Kaufman a oneyear
option to convert the long-abandoned property
into apartments. Today, as we are approaching the
deadline that council members voted to give Kaufman,
there is talk of extending the deal.
It has been pointed out by officials who support giving
Kaufman this opportunity that the city won’t lose
the $1.42 million earmarked for the demolition in 2006
through the Restore New York Communities initiative
program. What’s not being mentioned is that the city
will have to cover the difference between the final cost
of the demolition and what was put aside more than
two years ago. No one has explained how the city will
come up with additional money that is estimated to be
at least half a million dollars.
Give Kaufman another year, and you might as well
give him 100.
We’re not as impressed by Kaufman as some city
officials are, nor do we believe he has met all the criteria
that would enable him to extend his agreement
with the city. We know Mayor Ann Thane doesn’t
agree with our position, but we hope council members
will.
A vibrant apartment building with market-based
rental units would be a great thing for the city and the
South Side. Knock the Chalmers mill down and sell the
cleared property to a developer. Grant writer Nick
Zabawsky said the city has attracted interest from two
potential investors to build a hotel across from the
mill. If that’s the case, why can’t we attract developers
to build a new apartment complex on prime riverfront
property?
There are too many facets of this project that don’t
make sense for the city — from HUD backing
Kaufman’s mortgager to his plan of pricing rents substantially
higher than the project’s marketing study
recommends.
We also don’t understand why remediation on the
property that was supposed to have been completed by
the city a long time ago hasn’t even started yet.
The city has plenty of other vacant properties it can
give Kaufman the opportunity to develop.

The Graffiti Needs to END

Finally the Amsterdam Police are making some arrests of those individuals putting up graffiti all over the place. You can not go down a city street without seeing this CRAP all over the place. It looks disgusting. Those individuals responsible should be sentenced to community service. The community service should involve those individuals cleaning the graffiti up. I think that would be a great sentincing for those involved.
